Forging & Steel

The blade is forged from manganese steel, prized for its hardness and wear resistance. That toughness is what lets the Koori carry a sharp, lasting edge through repeated handling and practice without dulling like softer display blades. The blue finish is the signature, but the steel underneath is the reason it earns more than a glance on the wall — it holds its character through real use, and the cold colour deepens rather than fades as the light moves across it.

The mounting is built to match the blade’s cold elegance. The tsuba is precision-cast zinc alloy, and the saya is dense ebony wood fitted with a bull-horn kurigata and cord wrap — a heavy, premium scabbard that feels nothing like cheap pine. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine ray-skin leather over a zinc-alloy menuki kit, pinned with two bamboo mekugi in the traditional way. The result is a sword that feels balanced and substantial in the hand, with the weight sitting where it should for a controlled draw.
