Sakura means cherry blossom — the fleeting bloom of Japanese spring — and this little blade carries that spirit: brief in length, vivid in finish. The tanto is the dagger of the samurai’s world, and the Sakura dresses it in folded Damascus grain shot through with blue, like petals drifting over cold water.
Forging & Steel
The blade is folded Damascus steel, welded through many layers for its flowing grain and accented with blue detailing. Sharpened and full-tang, it is a genuine blade simply scaled down — the same forge logic as a full katana applied to a short, fast profile, the blue riding the folded layers rather than painted on top.
Mount & Fittings
Despite its compact size, the Sakura is a complete traditional build. A sculpted iron tsuba guards the collar, a lacquered wood saya carries a bull-horn kurigata, and the handle is wrapped in red shagreen leather over an iron menuki set, secured with bamboo mekugi through the tang. Nothing is left off for the sake of the small frame — the tanto carries every fitting a full sword would, the red wrap setting off the blue-accented grain in a bloom of contrast.

Is it battle-ready?
Yes. The Sakura is a sharpened, full-tang folded Damascus tanto, pegged with bamboo mekugi — a genuine blade scaled down, not an ornament. Its short reach makes it a natural companion to a full-length katana or a wakizashi, and it sits beautifully on a stand on its own. Explore the full tanto collection for matching mounts.
