Numachi is the marsh — the wetland, the still dark water that hides its depth beneath a calm surface. This katana is built to that idea: a blade with mysterious, mirror-bright depths and fittings as rich and quiet as ebony at dusk.
Forging & Steel
The blade is forged from folded Damascus steel and differentially hardened, so it carries both a flowing layered grain and a true hamon temper line. Taken to a mirror-bright polish, the surface reads like dark water — the grain surfacing where the light catches it, the hamon drifting along the edge. Beyond the looks, the layered steel brings real strength and a lasting edge: hard where it cuts, resilient through the body, the way master-tier Damascus should be. Differential hardening is what separates a true cutting blade from a wall-hanger, and here it is paired with the layered fold for the best of both schools.
The mounts match the grade. The tsuba is pure copper worked together with sculpted gold-plated silver, the saya is genuine ebony with a kurigata carved from bull horn, and the genuine shagreen tsuka is set with a gold-plated copper menuki kit over two bamboo mekugi, for a firm, prestigious grip.

Is it battle-ready?
Yes. The Numachi is a full-tang, differentially hardened Damascus katana with a genuine sharp edge, suited to serious cutting practice and to display as a centrepiece. Its 1.7 kg in the saya makes it a substantial sword — sold for trained, responsible handling.
