Edo is the old name of Tokyo — the great capital of the samurai age, where the sword reached its height as both weapon and art. This katana carries that heritage in its most prized feature: a premium Hitatsura hamon, the rare full-coverage temper that scatters hardened activity across the whole blade rather than confining it to the edge.
Forging & Steel
The 72 cm blade is forged from high-carbon T10 tool steel and given a Hitatsura hamon — a complex, full-body temper pattern that demands precise clay-tempering and polishing to reveal. The result is both a striking visual record of the differential hardening and a working edge: hard and keen where it cuts, tough along the spine. The blade is sharpened and finished to a precision polish that lets the Hitatsura pattern read clearly.
Mounting & Fittings
The tsuba is carved copper, gilded and silvered, adding a rich visual narrative, while the saya is lacquered, painted wood dressed with a two-tone sageo. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine white shagreen with a copper menuki kit and two bamboo mekugi over a true full-tang blade, underlining the luxurious finish.
