Murasaki no Akuma means purple demon — and the sword wears its name openly: a demon carved into the guard, the violet of dusk lacquered down the scabbard, and a hand-hammered blade that pairs danger with real beauty. It is a piece for the martial artist and the collector drawn to bold, symbolic steel rather than quiet elegance.
Forging & Steel
The blade is forged from high-carbon T10 tool steel and finished by hand-hammering. Selective heat treatment — differential hardening — raises a wave hamon along the edge, balancing flexibility in the spine with hardness at the edge for clean, precise cuts. The blade is sharpened and built to perform, the temper line a visible record of the forging.
Mounting & Fittings
The copper tsuba is carved with a demon, a symbol of raw power, set against a saya of black lacquer deepened with purple to evoke darkness and night. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine white shagreen with a copper menuki kit and two bamboo mekugi over a true full-tang blade, ensuring a secure grip.

Is it battle-ready?
Yes. Murasaki no Akuma is a sharpened, full-tang T10 blade with a real wave hamon — a functional cutting katana that blends danger and beauty, light at 1.2 kg and quick in the hand. Its demon guard and purple lacquer also make it a striking display. For more bold T10 work, compare the fire-themed Katana Kaji and the meteor-themed Katana Ryousei in our katana range.
