Every blade is inspected, oiled and packed discreetly — the carton never announces a sword inside.

Nozomu (望む) means to wish, to hope, to aspire — the perfect name for the katana you reach for when you decide to learn the blade properly. This is the sword for those who want to discover the katana from every angle: an authentic, accessible introduction to the art rather than a wall decoration.

Forging & Steel

The blade is T10 tool steel, mirror-polished and clay-tempered to draw a genuine hamon along the edge. A bo-hi fuller is cut the length of the blade, reducing weight and improving maneuverability without sacrificing strength — and giving the low, singing draw that tells you your edge is aligned. T10 is hard and holds its edge well, ideal for a serious first cutter, while the clay-tempering leaves the spine resilient enough to forgive the learning curve.

Fittings

A finely carved iron tsuba acts as a counterweight, settling the balance into the hand. Green accents run through the mounting, and the lacquered saya carries floral motifs reminiscent of the Edo period. The tsuka is solid wood wrapped in stingray leather for a firm, dry grip over a full-tang blade.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The clay-tempered T10 blade is sharpened and functional, an accessible yet authentic cutter for enthusiasts and practitioners. The bo-hi keeps it light and quick through kata, and basic care — wipe clean, oil lightly — is all it needs to stay in shape. Browse the full katana collection, or compare with the T10 clay-tempered Katana Toyotomi and the 1095 Katana Yūga.
