Every blade is inspected, oiled and packed discreetly — the carton never announces a sword inside.

Kurao draws on Kuraokami — the old dragon-deity of rain and water, called on the high dark slopes of the mountains. Fittingly, this katana wears a deep blue saya with a golden dragon coiling along it, and carries a blade made to move like falling water.

Forging & Steel

The blade is forged from T10 high-carbon steel and differentially hardened, raising the corrugated hamon that drifts along the edge — proof of a hard cutting bevel paired with a resilient spine. Cut into the flat is a bo-hi, the fuller that lightens the blade for easier handling, sharpens the balance and gives that low singing draw. The result is a functional work of art: keen, fast, and forgiving to swing — a blade that rewards practice while looking the part on the stand.

The mounts run with the dragon. A carved, gilded copper tsuba guards the hand, the blue-lacquered saya carries a golden dragon — a symbol of power and wisdom — with a white sageo, and the genuine blue shagreen tsuka is set with copper menuki over two bamboo mekugi pinning a full tang.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The Kurao is a full-tang, differentially hardened T10 katana with a genuine sharp edge and a bo-hi-lightened blade, built for cutting practice and equally striking on display. At 1.2 kg it stays quick in the hand. Sold for trained, responsible use.
